We invite you to join Comhlámh and friends on Wednesday, January 22nd 5.30-7pm, The Fumbally Stables, 4 Fumbally Lane Dublin 8, for the New Year Launch of E-TICK, a unique, free-to-access, online course on ethical communication.
This open event is a chance for folks to become more familiar with E-TICK and its themes and to consider how it might be relevant for the year ahead.
From feedback we know that E-TICK content resonates with a wide cohort of folks – trainee teachers, folks working in communications, volunteers, youth workers, intercultural workers and more. If you are working in one of these fields (or a related field), please consider joining us to launch “E-TICK” on January 22nd, 5.30-7pm. Come along, and help us launch E-TICK into the New Year!
The evening will be anchored by a keynote from Dr. Eilish Dillon, who has published widely on ethical communications in global development over many years. Assistant Professor at Maynooth University, Eilish recently co-edited ‘Global Education in Ireland: Critical Histories and Future Directions’, published by Bloomsbury Press in October 2024. Her latest publication (December 2024) is titled “Putting Critical Learning at the Heart of Ethical Global Development Communications among INGOs”.

A unique free-to-access online course, E-TICK takes a depth approach to ethics and communications, exploring it from many angles, including gender, culture, coloniality and more. The online sessions are engaging and interactive, designed to strengthen capacity for critical literacy and self-reflection at a time of proliferating digital technologies and new forms of media. There are options available for those who would like to do E-TICK with colleagues/ peers.
Note: E-TICK was first developed back in 2020. Following a successful first run between 2020 and 2023 (the platform was highly commended by GENE in 2021 as an example of best practice in Global Citizenship Education), E-TICK was refreshed in 2024 and now carries updated materials, as well as new modules on digital literacy.
E-TICK 2024 is a shared project of Comhlámh, Humanitas (Slovenia), Zavod Voluntariat (Slovenia), INEX (Czechia) and kindly supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission.
