Welcome to Comhlámh Justice for Palestine Member Group
Comhlámh Justice for Palestine is a voluntary group dedicated to achieving justice for the Palestinian people and taking a stand against Israel’s brutal apartheid, colonisation and occupation.
Our mission is to raise awareness and take action on the past and ongoing injustices faced by Palestinians. Israel’s brutal ongoing occupation is not only discriminatory but a system of settler colonialism, ethnic cleansing and apartheid. You can watch this video from Amnesty International, a leading human rights organisation, highlighting the reality faced by Palestinians living under Israel’s cruel system of domination to learn more.
These grave human rights abuses and crimes against humanity mean each of us has a role to play in collectively saying “Never Again.” As a group, we try to support direct action in a number of ways such as raising awareness through free public events, participating in and organising protests/demonstrations, collaborating with other solidarity groups and advocating for Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS).
Group’s objectives and ongoing campaigns
Please find below these objectives and ongoing actions outlined in depth and how you can get involved.
Supporting the Movement of Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS)
The BDS movement works to end international support for Israel’s oppression of Palestinians and pressures Israel to comply with international law. Comhlámh courageously adopted a BDS stance in 2020 and we hosted a panel discussion for the public on BDS with three well-respected speakers: Fatin al Tamimi, Richard Falk and Omar Barghouti. You can watch the panel discussion for free below under our resources section. We will continue to support the public in making informed decisions in line with BDS’s ethos. Visit the BDS website for more information.
Supporting and Collaborating with Other Groups
To quote Guy Standing, “collective action remains the best way of renewing the march towards the great trinity of liberty, equality, and solidarity.” There are so many groups already undertaking incredible work and so one of our core objectives is supporting their initiatives, particularly Palestinian-led groups. In line with this, we are also members of the Irish Anti-Apartheid Campaign for Palestine (IAACP). This is a coalition of 23 Irish civil society organisations representing a collective membership of over one million people across the island. Through shared actions, campaigns and advocacy initiatives our group will engage members of the Irish public and political representatives on the situation of Palestinians, and to build political support for effective measures by Ireland and the international community to condemn Israel’s actions and to end the crime of apartheid against Palestinians. Read our Statement on Gaza and Israel here.
We have 2 aims as a part of the IAACP:
- Have the Irish Government, and others, recognise what is happening as Apartheid under international law.
- Bring an end to this crime and ensure human rights for all.
Show your support and call on the Irish Government to recognise that Israel is committing the crime of apartheid and to take meaningful action to dismantle this apartheid system.

Raising Awareness Among the Public and Comhlámh Members
One of our main aims is to generate awareness of the historical and ongoing rights violations faced by Palestinians and empower action and engagement on these issues. We are currently working on several resources to inform and support actions promoting justice and solidarity.
Engage with the Apartheid Free Zones Global Campaign
The Apartheid Free Zones (AFZ) campaign promotes the creation of spaces of proactive solidarity with the Palestinian people. As citizens and people of conscience, we want to ensure that the spaces we participate in do not contribute to maintaining an apartheid regime or profit from grave human rights violations.
We’re committed to promoting the Apartheid Free Zones campaign and advocating for their implementation in organizations and businesses. Take a look at the AFZ toolkit and learn more about this amazing community organising strategy, and how to foster new AFZ in your city, cultural centre or other community space! If you want to create an AFZ in a cultural or social centre, read this handy checklist or contact riccardo@bdsmovement.net for support.
Promote Palestinian Products in Ireland
We believe that voting with our wallet extends to promoting the ample amounts of wonderful Palestinian products available to buy here in Ireland. We are currently working on our “Christmas Gift Guide of Palestinian Products and Businesses.” Watch this space!

Film Nights
On 27 November Comhlámh Justice for Palestine invites you to ‘Decolonisation of People and Nature in Palestine and Globally’ Public Talk with Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh. You can learn more and register here.
In October 2024, the group hosted a movie night featuring the award-winning feature documentary ‘Where Olive Trees Weep’ followed by a discussion and exploration of actions civil society can take.
In November 2023, the group organised a ‘Stone Cold Justice‘ screening and a Panel Discussion marking the UN International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The film documents how Palestinian children, who have been arrested and detained by Israeli forces, are subjected to physical abuse, torture and forced into false confessions and pushed into gathering intelligence on Palestinian activists. Learn more about this event and speakers.
In May 2023, we held a film night to commemorate the Nakba and raise awareness of the ongoing Nakba facing Palestinians. We showed two short films, ‘Return to Lifta’ and ‘The Present’ (available on Netflix – watch the trailer), and had inputs from Faten Sourani and Talha AlAli. While this was not a recorded event, we highly recommend you watch the two short films (both under 30 minutes).
