‘Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.’ Audre Lorde

Comhlámh is delighted to announce that our next Coming Home Weekend will take place in Django Hostel in Cloughjordan eco-village on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June.

This two-day residential retreat will give you time to reflect on your placement in the Global South, together with other returned volunteers and development workers.

  • an opportunity for personal reflection on some of the challenges and highpoints of your time overseas;
  • the chance to meet others who have had similar journeys and to collectively consider the impact of your experiences;
  • a space where you can link your overseas experience within your ongoing work for global justice, sustaining your active engagement from Ireland.

If you have worked or volunteered in the Global South for three months or more, you are most welcome to join us. This year, we’re very pleased to include a social event on Saturday evening to celebrate the summer solstice; during the weekend, we will also have an input from our friends in CloughJordan about the ongoing work in their eco village.

The cost is 50 euro for Comhlámh members and 100 euro for non-members, and accommodation is on a shared basis.
