As the year draws to a close, we want to take a moment to thank you—our members, supporters, and partners—for your unwavering commitment to solidarity and justice. Whether you have been part of our education, activism, campaigns, or contributed to our conversations, your presence has been a source of strength and inspiration.
This year, through the work of our member groups, we have been reminded of the profound importance of community and shared action. Events like the screening of Where the Olive Trees Weep brought us together to bear witness, reflect, and recommit ourselves to solidarity activism.
As we put up the Christmas tree in the Comhlámh office, decorating its branches with symbols of light, hope, and unity, we hold in our hearts the image of the weeping olive tree. This tree, so often a symbol of strength and resilience, now cries for the suffering of those living through genocide, displacement, and occupation. Its twisted, ancient roots carry the weight of sorrow, but also the promise of survival – a reminder that even in the face of unimaginable grief, there is the potential for renewal.
In this season of light and reflection, the olive tree teaches us an essential truth: that grief and hope can coexist. Just as the olive tree weeps, it also stands resolute, enduring despite the pain it has witnessed. Let us take inspiration from its resilience as we honour the courage of those who have inspired us this year. Let us recommit ourselves to standing together with compassion and resolve.
May we draw strength from one another and find the courage to keep fighting for justice, peace, and freedom for all.
From all of us at Comhlámh, we wish you peace and joy this holiday season, and a New Year filled with hope, renewal, and solidarity.
In solidarity,
The Comhlámh Team
