We’re delighted to share that Comhlámh colleagues Bronwyn April and Sive Bresnihan joined Dr Brighid Golden on Curious and Critical GCE, a podcast series exploring how Global Citizenship Education can be practised with curiosity and critical thinking across different learning spaces. Developed to accompany the book Global Citizenship Education: Curious Teachers, Critical Classrooms, the series is hosted by Dr Golden, a lecturer in GCE at Mary Immaculate College and long-time member of the national DICE Project Network.
In this episode, Sive and Bronwyn reflect on Comhlámh’s training and education work and the values that shape it: from ethical communication and community-based learning to anti-racism, wellbeing, and educator capacity to sit with “difficult knowledge.” They touch on recent and ongoing projects, including E-TICK (online course on ethical communication), a GCE-inspired programme for community workers in the North-West, collaboration with our network of Volunteer Sending Agencies, and DEFY, in partnership with STAND, finep and Zavod Voluntariat. Bronwyn also draws on nearly two decades’ experience in social development and justice across South Africa, Zambia, and Ireland, sharing insights on migrant rights, access to services, and racial justice facilitation.
If you’re curious about how GCE looks in practice and how to get involved with Comhlámh’s courses, events, and member networks, this conversation is a great place to start.
