Could you help guide Comhlámh through its next chapter?

Comhlámh is inviting expressions of interest from people who share our commitment to solidarity and global justice and who would like to contribute their experience, perspective and leadership to the organisation as our next Chair of the Board.

Founded in 1975, Comhlámh has over 50 years’ experience of supporting people and organisations to mobilise for global justice. As a membership organisation, we create spaces for people to connect, learn, reflect and take action on the structural causes of inequality and unsustainability, and the connections between local and global challenges.

Through global citizenship education, values-led volunteering, reflective practice, partnership, member and sector development, we work towards a more just and sustainable world.

Comhlámh believes that transformational change can emerge from creating spaces where people work in solidarity, recognise our shared humanity and interdependence, and collectively work towards a world beyond injustice. Comhlámh seeks to be the change it is trying to bring about. We work to bring our values of respect, integrity, solidarity and ecological sustainability into all areas of our engagement. We commit to looking honestly at ourselves, our policies and practices, identifying where and how we need to change, and taking action to make those changes.

We recognise that this work is ongoing and requires collective effort. We cannot achieve change alone, and work closely with individuals, members and organisations nationally and internationally whose goals are aligned around transformational change.

As Comhlámh enters an important period of development and renewal, we are looking for a new Chair who can help guide the organisation through change, support its long-term sustainability and ensure that our work remains rooted in our mission and values.

The Chair will work collaboratively with the Board and CEO, providing leadership and stewardship, supporting effective governance and strategic direction, and helping to strengthen Comhlámh’s relationships and contribution across the wider sector.

Why now?

Comhlámh is navigating a changing environment and an important period of organisational renewal. Strengthening our sustainability and resilience, developing new partnerships and funding opportunities, maintaining our distinctive contribution and responding to the challenges facing the wider sector are all part of the work ahead.

The new Chair will play an important role in helping the Board hold these priorities together, maintain a clear sense of direction and support the organisation to respond thoughtfully and confidently to change.

We are looking for someone who can bring strategic insight and sound judgement, but also a collaborative and grounded approach. Someone who listens, encourages different perspectives, supports constructive challenge and understands the importance of collective responsibility.
