Earlier this month, Comhlámh had an opportunity to contribute to the Irish Global Health Network’s (IGHN) Summer School series on Essentials of Global Health Practice. It was a rich and thought-provoking gathering, and we were delighted to play an active role:

  • Bronwyn, our Education and Outreach Coordinator, facilitated a powerful discussion on Power, Inequality, and Decolonisation, challenging participants to reflect on colonial legacies and envision more equitable global health systems.
  • Sive, our Training and Education Coordinator, facilitated an engaging, hands-on session on Intercultural Awareness using the Bennett Framework, equipping attendees with tools to navigate diverse cultural contexts with a deeper understanding and respect.
  • Dr. Robbie Lawlor, Co-founder of our Access to Medicines member group, shared inspiring lessons from his advocacy journey, demonstrating how activism can bring about tangible change in the global health landscape.

Together, these contributions underscored the urgent need for a global health system that is equitable, inclusive, and culturally responsive, values at the heart of Comhlámh’s mission.

One of the participants has reflected beautifully on the day in a ‘Global Health Without Borders: Reflections on the Power of Diverse Voices’ blog for IGHN, capturing the power of bringing diverse voices together. Read the full piece below.
