Biography

Photo of GIVE Gambia Ireland Volunteers in Education

GIVE has a long-term commitment to supporting education in The Gambia. We are developing sustainable programmes in cooperation with the CES in The Gambia.

Volunteers spend 4 to 6 weeks in The Gambia.  Our programmes usually run from late January to early March.  We work directly with Gambian teachers, using their school syllabus.  We also work with students receiving ‘second-chance’ education at Skill Centres.  As experienced teachers, our volunteers communicate best practise and support local teachers in developing practical active-learning methodologies with their students in the classroom.

Qualifications and Experience

As we work with teachers in The Gambia, GIVE is seeking fully qualified teachers, retired or on career-break.

Application Procedure

Candidates submit a detailed application form. Following a successful interview, receipt of two suitable references and vetting through the National Vetting Bureau, volunteers are accepted onto our programme and join our team for pre-departure training.
