The ‘International Citizens for Local Perspectives’ (IC4LOP) is a two-year project involving four partner organisations: France Volontaires (France) ; Zavod Voluntariat (Slovenia); CESIE (Italy) and Comhlámh (Ireland).
The project aims to promote citizen participation and combat social exclusion by linking newly arrived young migrants with young people who have volunteered in the Global South. It supports a bottom-up approach to integration based on the transformative potential of volunteering experiences and on the migration experiences of young people arriving into Europe.
IC4LOP will promote innovative actions and good practice by:
– Creating an online map of integration initiatives across the 4 countries, which welcome the involvement of members of the public;
– Developing training resources and courses to support organisations and individuals who wish to upskill on how to develop and deliver global justice action projects; and
– Supporting young migrants and international volunteers to come together to collectively create action projects on themes they are passionate about.
The first stage of the project is a mapping exercise, where organisations working with young migrants and international volunteers will be invited to share their details for inclusion on an online map. The map will be launched at an information day in June 2019, and we will continue to add to it throughout the project.
A training of trainers’ manual will be developed for organisations working with these groups of young people. This will draw on previous materials developed by Comhlámh to facilitate the development of collective action projects on global justice themes.
The manual will be disseminated through a series of international and national training courses:
-Pan-EU Training of Trainers course (February 2020);
-An Irish Training of Trainers course (March/April 2020)
-Irish action project training for young international volunteers and migrants (April/May 2020)
Other events will include
-24 action projects will be developed across Europe during the project;
-Transnational & national information events, these will take place at keystages throughout the project, to encourage the dissemination & replication of outputs and learning.
