The staff of Comhlámh is horrified at the brutal assault on Rafah last night, where displaced people were burned alive in their tents by Israeli airstrikes. UNRWA said the images from Rafah are yet another testament that Gaza is ‘hell on earth’. The targeting of innocent people sheltering in tents in a supposed ‘safe zone’ is a grave violation of international law. This attack is nothing short of barbaric. We call on our colleagues across the Irish International Development Sector to join us in expressing horror and outrage. We call on our government to sanction Israel now and close Shannon Airport to the US military for the transport of military personnel and equipment to Israel. We stand in steadfast solidarity with the people of Palestine and all that they continue to endure.
