Skills in Dev Ed

Spring 2009

This nine week evening course equips participants with the knowledge and the tools to engage groups in education on global development, local and global inequality, and social justice issues in a friendly, informal group environment. During the course development issues are raised, however the focus is on participatory methodologies and how to adapt them to any group setting. It will enable participants to work more effectively and creatively with groups when exploring intercultural and development issues.

Development Education is about increasing people's awareness and understanding of global issues and the interdependence of different countries and parts of the world in relation to these issues. In particular, it is about what sustains under-development and what is needed to reach and sustain more equal development. It is an education based on reflection, analysis, and action at local and global level.

This course is open to anyone with an interest in development education including but not limited to youth and community workers, teachers, and those working in group settings.

Date: Tuesday evenings, February 17th – April 28th. The course will break for Patrick’s day on the 17th of March and for Easter on the 14th of April.

Venue: Dublin City Centre

Cost: Non-members €180; Comhlámh members €145; Unemployed and students €100; Asylum seekers €5
